What are Gifting Attributes?
📓 Gifting Attributes 101
When customers add gift options to their order, any details they've included (for example: a gift message, sender name, or receiver name) will be saved to the order as gifting attributes.
Think of them as notes that let customers know their gifting details have been saved correctly and let you know exactly what details and options have been selected by the customer so you can fulfill the order with confidence.
Gifting attributes are stored in the order details and can appear in a couple different places depending on which gift options you've turned on:
Gifting for Products
Gifting attributes are displayed below each product title in the order.
Gifting for Orders
Gifting attributes are displayed below the order note in additional details. Additionally, when you've connected a gift product, the gift attributes will be displayed below the gift product title.
In summary: If a customer adds gift options to a product using Gifting for Products, their message will appear below the product title in the order details. If they add gift options to their entire order using Gifting for Orders, attributes will show up below the order notes section.
🎨 Customizing gifting attributes
Customizing gifting attributes can make your store feel more personalized and aligned with your brand. It also allows you to align them with the unique way you want to offer gift options to customers.
For example, if you only want to offer a gift message without any gift wrap or gift packaging, you could rename the Gift Wrap attribute to Gift Message to reflect this.
Here's a list of each gift attribute and what information they show on the order.
- Gift wrap: Shows a confirmation that gift options have been added to the product and/or order
- Gift option: Shows the name of the selected or default gift variant when applicable
- Gift message: Shows the customers's personalized gift message when entered
- Sender: Shows the sender name when entered
- Receiver: Shows the receiver name when entered

💡 Important notes
- Gifting attributes are required for Wrapped to function properly on your store and cannot be removed, only hidden from the storefront/customer view.
- Once an order has been placed, any attributes applied to that order cannot be hidden or renamed by Wrapped. Only orders placed after any customizations have been made will have the new customized attributes applied.
- Use attributes to ensure your fulfillment process is completed accurately.
- If your theme doesn't display attributes or support certain features, you may need the help of a developer to customize them.
- If you offer a gift product and see gifting attributes added to an order, but the gift product is not showing up, this is likely due to the customer removing the gift options and their connection being slow or interrupted. In this situation, the best thing to do is clarify with the customer on their intent.
- Attribute names are hardcoded and cannot be automatically translated.
